Hand-held BIF's - 12 Sep 2018
I decided to not give up on the hand-held digiscoping. This afternoon I went after one of the resident Ruby-throated Hummingbirds that is still hanging around the yard. The trick to this working is making sure the Sony a6300 and Sigma 30/2.8 is set to infinity, or just this side of infinity when using the scope. I'm very happy with the results this time around.
Some attempts at BIF's at Lake Erie Metropark included Bonaparte's Gull, Great Blue Heron, and Forster's Tern. Trying to shoot high-flying hawks is not good, as distance depreciates image quality really quickly despite accurate focusing.
